Quilted Saree Organizer

Some months back, I sewed a saree organizer bag. The outer fabric is golden colour and the inner fabric is light blue colour. I quilted them using a 4 mm sponge.

For viewing the sarees clearly, I used a vinyl sheet in the middle.

You can see the vinyl sheet between the quilted pieces. I stitched the zip to that part of the fabric.

Added 2 handles on either sides of the bag.

I used a golden lace on the top.

Here is the inside view of the bag,

I stitched quilted zip pouches from the same golden fabric.

I gifted these pouches to my friends.
See you all in another interesting post. Bye.

Upcycled bags - 2

Here are some more upcycled bags,

These 2 bags are upcycled using the same saree border. One I sewed vertically & another horizontally.
I used readymade black handles for this bag. I hung it up in gate for the milkman to drop the milk packets.

The above bag is made from a saree and also it is hand stitched. I used the bag for more than 2 years. It is one of my first stitched bags.

This is a foldable bag, also upcycled from a saree.
This is the bag folded and tied with the loops.

Upcycled Bags 1

This post is about the bags made from old chudithar tops. I have used the tops for so many years. So i upcycled them into bags, which I use at home.

'Upcycle' is a term, first coined by German Engineer Reiner Pilz in the year 1994.

It is a process where a material or a product is reused to create a new product of higher value than the original one. Also the used material regains it's originality.

Ref : Upcycling - Wikipedia

Now, let us see some of the bags,

For the above bag, I used 2 chudithar tops. Outside fabric is from an embroidered black chudithar. Inside I used another rose colour tops. You can also see an open pocket made with the same rose colour fabric.

This bag fabric is from another chudithar tops. My dad bought this from Kolkata, when he was working there. It is fully embroidered.

For the inner fabric, I used the remaining cloth of the above black embroidery top. I stitched an open pocket with the outer fabric. I liked these chudithars very much, so I am happy that I am using the same, as bags. Bye.

My first hand sewn bag

It was raining full day here and the weather is very chill. We had white rice with rasam and egg omelet for lunch yesterday, it is a very good combination. Though it may not feel special, we can give it a try, once in a while.
Ok, now coming to my first bag, I started sewing bags in the year 2016. At that time, there was no sewing machine. I used to hand stitch the bags and purses.
This is my first hand sewn bag. The cloth is felt. I used a saree border for piping and the handle.
Seven years gone, but still the passion for stitching bags continues.

Hope you all can view the inside of the bag clearly. It has one main compartment, seperate pocket for mobile, a zip pocket & a small open pocket.

This image shows us the zip stitched between the flap and the main pocket of the bag.

A closer view of the small open pocket decorated with lace and blanket stitch embroidery.

I have used press buttons to attach the handles.

A closer look of the felt bag

I am stitching now an organizer made from scrap fabrics, which I will update soon.
By the time, I am uploading this blog, the rain has stopped but the weather is still chill. Bye.
